Whitby makes a great nocturne painting subject. It's a very characterful and historic coastal town. The evening skies and night time really appeals to me and I chose this subject as it is very English and typical of the seaside in Northern England.
The original painting that this print is taken from shows the last light of the day being reflected in the harbour and the lights are starting to be switched on in the town.
VARIATIONS
This print can be purchased in the original dimensions or cropped to make it a wider, larger print with less sky. Both options work just as well for this painting, which is unusual. The third image of the listing photographs shows the alternative cropping/size option.
