This original oil painting took inspiration from a solitary Ash tree I saw in the Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire. The Ash tree is being decimated by disease and there are millions dying but occasionally you see one standing strong, without apparent disease, and it gives a little comfort to see it still there as it has done for many years. It could be seen as a metaphor for the current situation I suppose, although I painted it before 2019.
The painting has been hanging in my own home and would look beautiful in a room full of cool colours and is genuinely collectable. My work has been shown in galleries and museums and this is my first foray into selling original paintings directly to people on the internet through Etsy.
